Welcome!

Welcome to my first ever book blog! Now, I’m completely new to this kind of format, but hopefully you enjoy being here.

Let’s talk a little about what I would like to do in this book blog. I want to do what any other book blog does, I want to write and get my thoughts out of books that I enjoyed immensely. Books have shaped a big part of my life, and I don’t know what I would be doing if I never gave them a chance, but I’m so glad that I did.

I own over 600+ books, so the reading amount is endless as you can imagine. A story, is a story, is a story. I try to not discriminate a book by its cover or what label it is marketed in. I don’t care for much if a book is categorized as young adult, new fiction, middle grade or whatever marketing strategy publishers use. In the end, I make the choice of whether the book interests me enough to read, you know?

The way I read books depends on what mood I’m in for. Some days I feel like reading fantasy books (which are my favorite by far to read). Other days, I’ll read paranormal, or science fiction, historical fiction or some of the older books that I have owned for years, but for some reason have not picked up yet. So there will be a mix of everything reviewed here.

My thoughts of reviewing, I feel since this is my first blog, my reviews will base on between subjective and objective points of view. Subjective meaning my reviews might be based on personal feelings, and opinions. Objective meaning the opposite that I’m not influenced by personal feelings “in considering and representing facts”. These two literary devices were taught to me back in high school, and they felt important to me. It taught me how to handle reviews or, typically, how to analyze a story. They helped me better understand the difference about writing a piece by how my feelings were affected, and how I can see it without my opinions being influenced to the point of giving a book a specific rating.

Now, that we’re on subject of rating. I rate books very differently due to my personal feelings on what I think it deserves. My rating system is based on the goodreads system, but I actually  give half stars (which, goodreads should really offer that, just sayin’). Anyway, my average rating spans between 3 star to 5 stars. I hardly ever give a book less than 3 stars this is due to preference. I see it as “I chose to read a book, and  I found a way to enjoy it myself” so it doesn’t necessarily deserve a bad rating. I’m not a critical reviewer, unless it’s for schoolwork, otherwise I want to enjoy a book. I do not want to do the unbearable task of nit picking a story apart just to find everything that’s wrong with it. I know for a fact that books will have flaws. Everything is flawed. Stories have conflict, they have plot, and they have goals of storytelling. Everyone has their own way of rating, and I respect that.

Well, that ends what I have to say about that. I hope you enjoy my book blog. Sorry, if i get too ramble-y here. My mind works in abstracts so it’s difficult to not go on a tangent, if I ever do. I’d like to thank you for visiting, and hopefully you’ll stay for the ramble-y mess of a book blogger that I am. I promise I’ll get better as time passes.
